History of Tri State Expedited Service
Tri-State Expedited Service, Inc., was established in 1978 by Ron and Glenna Chidester in Toledo, OH and at that time, the Company was handling freight for various trucking companies in the area. With the advent of deregulation, the owner made a commitment to get into the surface expedited business exclusively.
Since 1984, Tri-State has experienced massive growth in ground expedited shipping, growing less than 20 units to several hundred. Due to this growth
the facility originally located on Glenwood Road did not provide a sufficient amount of space to accommodate business needs and in 1989, the Company doubled the size of its’ operational facility. In 1992, the Company then moved to the current location at 27681 Cummings Road in Millbury, Ohio; this facility was completely renovated and the Company anticipated that it would be sufficient for a five-year growth plan. However, in 1994 the Company was at the drawing boards again, adding to the existing structure and in the spring of 1995, the Company opened the new addition, which has been designed with the space necessary to accommodate business levels well into the 21st Century.
In 2007 the Company saw a need for a larger maintenance shop, a classroom for orientation and a facility to accommodate drivers when in the area. The Drivers’ Lounge is furnished with showers, laundry room, full kitchen, a large TV room and an outside patio and is available for the use of our drivers and contractors 24/7, and the Shop is equipped with the latest in truck maintenance equipment and technology.
With the passing of our founding matriarch in 2021, the stock of Tri-State Expedited was purchased by 4 current members of the senior management team. Chad Nicholls, Corey Crane, Korey Walper and Mike Lawrence have taken on the responsibility and privilege of continuing the legacy of the Chidesters’ and moving Tri-State back into it’s rightful place as a leader in the ground expedite industry.
